Celebrity 5-a-side Football Challenge

"I just wanted to say what a great time we all had and how impressed we were with how well it was run considering it was your first event. We look forward to returning next year to defend our title. Best of luck with the charity."

Matt Oxley

Captain of DotLabel FC

Just a short note to thank you for the excellent organisation of the above event last Wednesday evening.  We all enjoyed participating even if we did lose on the dreaded penalty shoot out.   Already looking forward to next year's event and please do not hesitate to contact me if you feel Hampshire FA can assist the charity in any way.

Neil Cassar

Chief Executive Hampshire FA

On behalf of Trethowans I would like to thank you and your team for arranging the Sprint-Start football tournament.
Everyone who attended from Trethowans thoroughly enjoyed the day and have nothing but praise for the way the tournament was run.
A few of our staff are Southampton fans and were thrilled when Francis Benali offered to play on our team for a match and a big thank you goes to Francis and the other sporting celebrities who attended.

Schools

Norwood Primary School
“Norwood School were extremely fortunate to have been selected as the pilot school for the Sprint Start Programme headed by Iwan Thomas, Olympic Athlete, and Kim Chesterfield, physiotherapist.

The programme had, and I am pleased to stay still has, an immense impact on the children, regardless of academic and physical abilities.

The programme focused on healthy eating and producing nutritious food alongside participation in a range of exercise activities. The “hands on” sessions were supported by the children’s workbooks that helped with the children’s learning and understanding after the practical activities had finished. This comprehensive approach was very successful”

“As a result of this the interaction between peers blossomed, there was a significant increase in self esteem and attainment levels improved with children consistently trying their best and fulfilling their potential in all aspects of the curriculum. There was also a marked improvement in speaking and listening skills and children’s confidence, which, I am pleased to say, is still evident today.
In addition to this children had the opportunity to experience a variety of sports, many of which are outside the curriculum and ones which we cannot access, as well as having an opportunity to prepare, cook and taste a vast range of foods.”

Chloe Bloundele said, “It was the best ever. I experienced new foods and lots of different sports.”

“I loved it. We all had great fun and we thought Iwan, Kim and Pete were great! I am still working hard at keeping fit and eating healthily,” said Chloe Daniels.

“At first I didn’t like the food but now I have a banana every day and cycle my bike to school,” said Abigail Hayes.

We are all so very proud to have been chosen and given the opportunity to be part of this new initiative – one which our children will never forget!!”

Hightown Primary School
“The Healthy Kids programme was a huge success at Hightown. The children were completely engaged in each session and thoroughly enjoyed each activity. Their levels of knowledge and understanding in relation to living a healthy lifestyle increased enormously over the course of the ten weeks.

Each member of the Sprint Start team developed an excellent rapport with the children and it was through this strong relationship that they were able to support the children to achieve their goals. The team were very well organised, enthusiastic and positive and very quickly became part of the Hightown family.

The parents were extremely impressed with the quality of the work the children were presenting on the final ‘Sports Day’. “

Eastleigh Borough Council
“I would like to express my full support for Sprint-Start. I have worked alongside the company on a range of projects and have found them to be excellent deliverers and committed to high quality service.
Sprint-Start has set out to target 2 of the 4 criteria included in Healthy Schools – Physical exercise and healthy eating. Staff involved in the project are highly qualified and demonstrated a true desire to increase the physical activity levels of local young people.
Overall I believe providers like Sprint-Start are part of the future for sports development and I look forward to working with them on future projects.”

James Coney – Sports Development Officer, Eastleigh Borough Council
